WHAT ARE YOU UP TO RIGHT NOW?
Currently editing photos. It’s my favorite hobby, I swear.
WHAT'S YOUR DAILY ROUTINE TYPICALLY LOOK LIKE ON A WEEKDAY?
I'm still working the 8 to 5 deal so that takes up the majority of my days, but after that I can usually be found with my camera in hand running around trying to snap some photos.
While I love weekend travels, I’ve been focusing on not living for my weekends, so a lot of times during the week (once work is over) I’m running around trying to soak up all the light I can.
WHAT IS IT LIKE WORKING AT AN ENVIRONMENTAL FIRM? HAVE YOU ALWAYS WANTED TO DO THAT?
Not really. I love learning so many different things everyday at my job, but it is definitely something I just found myself in after school. Most days I’m behind a screen working on spreadsheets or EPA reports, so it’s quite different from my blog and love for photography.
TELL US MORE ABOUT YOUR BLOG. WHAT INITIALLY INSPIRED YOU TO START IT? WAS THERE A CERTAIN EVENT/MOMENT YOU KNEW YOU WANTED TO DO IT?
So I actually have just started talking about my reasoning for even picking up a camera and starting a blog. I started a balancing peach out of heartbreak. After ending a six year relationship, I felt so lost and not myself. I think my blog came out of time when I wanted to have something for myself that had nothing to do with my personal life and was some sort of escape.
Over time I’ve watched my blog turn into a beauty only blog to a lifestyle blog. In the beginning I was happy to share only the makeup on my vanity, but luckily my love for photography grew and I found myself turning my camera up towards others and myself.
ARE THERE ANY OBSTACLES THAT YOU HAVE HAD TO FACE IN YOUR CAREER? HOW DID YOU OVERCOME THEM?
Probably the biggest obstacle I face today is, time. With the 8 to 5, blog, life, responsibilities, I can often feel as though there are simply not enough hours in the day.
But really I think I’ve been lucky in life and not had too many obstacles or at the very least none that seemed too great. But being a girl in a mainly guy area (engineering) isn’t always easy. I definitely felt like I had to prove myself a bit more, though it easily gave me hard working skills that I know will stick with me no matter what.
HOW DO YOU REPRESENT THE TRAIT QUIRKY?
Oh man. The list I could give you guys :) Really I just have such funny habits that people always comment on. I absolutely cannot stand to have my food touch. (I’m pretty jealous that kiddos get separated plates.) And I’m super picky about how my clothing feels.
I still find myself from time to time being a bit more self conscious about my quirky habits than I would like, but really I’ve started to accept it as me being me. And I hope that self acceptance of my quirks reaches over to my blog audience.
WHAT DO OTHERS THINK OF YOUR QUIRKY PERSONALITY?
My family and my current boyfriend definitely love to tease me about it. Especially when it comes to my food touching.... I just can’t handle it.
ASIDE FROM BEING QUIRKY, WHAT ARE YOUR THREE OTHER PERSONALITY TRAITS THAT DESCRIBE YOURSELF?
Loyal, Creative, Friendly
WHAT ARE YOUR HOPES AND GOALS? WHERE DO YOU SEE YOURSELF IN FIVE YEARS FROM NOW?
Oh gosh! This question honestly scares me all the time because two years ago it would have been very different than what it is now. I just shared a post where I confess I really am not sure where my life is going. Which is s o t e r r i f y i n g to admit, but I found out basically every single person in my life feels the same way.
I think my hope is that photography is still such a passion of mine. I hope I’m still watching photoshop tutorials and trying to learn as much as I can. It would be really awesome if I had some sort of business with my passion but for right now, I hope I don’t ever lose it.
WHAT IS THE MOST VALUABLE PIECE OF ADVICE YOU COULD GIVE TO ANOTHER YOUNG WOMAN ABOUT EXPRESSING HER QUIRKY PERSONALITY?
Be you and never stop learning. I feel like this sentiment is w a y overused, but it’s also something I really do believe in. I know for a fact that if I wasn’t true to myself (quirks and all) I wouldn’t have ever started my blog or discovered my passion for photography. And while so many of us may not know what life has in store for us I would absolutely say never stop trying to learn about anything and everything you can. Learning will never ever hold you back in life.
