WHAT ARE YOU UP TO RIGHT NOW? ARE YOU IN SCHOOL, WORKING?
It’s so crazy to say this – but as of June 2017 I am living homeless! I sold all my stuff (house, car, random trinkets, everything in the kitchen cabinets, all those boring corporate clothes I owned) and fit what I could in a suitcase to travel the world! So I am finishing up two weeks in a little beach town in Florida right now, and then it is off to travel, first stop Guatemala. I am taking my coaching practice international!
EXPLAIN YOUR BUSINESS AS A LIFESTYLE COACH FOR WOMEN TO US A LITTLE MORE.
So, I call myself The Life Stylist - I challenge women to step outside of their comfort zone to start designing a life they are obsessed with!
When I started, I thought I would LOVE coaching women to find their dream career in life. But as I went on I realized, it was so much more than that! It’s not just about having the dream career or building your dream business. It’s about being obsessed with your entire lifestyle! And in order to get there you have to break through these giant blocks, boundaries and comfort zones that you have created all this time. I think if you don’t pay attention to the whole big picture, you will hit a wall down the road.
I challenge women to get past all of their comfort zones, so they can completely step into more of what they love every single day!
YOU SHARE A LOT OF WISDOM ON YOUR BLOG, CAN YOU WALK US THOUGH YOUR THOUGHT PROCESS OF CREATING CONTENT?
My little secret to creating constant content is keeping an epic “idea log.” I came to learn when I became an entrepreneur that I have ideas bouncing around 24/7 and it’s hard to quiet that in your head. It was so easy for me to get stuck on an idea and I would let it consume me, I would stop everything I was doing and pay attention to a different idea. That made my days really choppy. So I started an idea log, every time one pops in my head, I simply jot it down and let it go for the moment. I have certain days for creative work and that is when I come back to those brilliant ideas!
WHAT KEEPS YOU INSPIRED? IS THERE A PERSON, PLACE, OR THING THAT KEEPS YOU GOING?
Oh, the world keeps me inspired! I am getting such a fresh outlook on life right now living with only my trusty suitcase. I start every morning outside and that is my breath of fresh air to dive into the day ahead. Sometimes I go on a walk, sometimes I just sit outside, but either way I get inspired in that time! And my clients, they all inspire me too. There is nothing I love more than watching a client break through her boundaries to get one step closer to her dream lifestyle, that is truly inspiring.
WHAT ARE YOUR TOP FOUR PERSONALITY TRAITS AND WHY
ADVENTUROUS: I try to live in adventure every day, whether it’s a grand adventure like hopping to the next country tomorrow or a small one like meeting someone new online!
CREATIVE: I never thought of myself as creative until I started my business. Then I realized being creative doesn’t just mean painting or sculpting. Creativity can be design new ideas, new ways to do things, coming up with new content for my blog or even social media channels! I think being able to expand in any area of your life is creativity.
DRIVEN: I’ll admit it I’m stubborn, and though most would include that as a negative personality trait, I think it helps my drive. If I love an idea, I will not give up on it. I will try every possible new way to go after it until I have found the magic solution.
COMPASSIONATE: I’ve always had a big heart for others. But just recently I have learned to transform that from people pleaser to loving, but allowing myself time for me too. Being able to open myself up to that has allowed me to be even better support for other people. I bring my compassionate nature into my coaching business every day.
HOW AND WHERE DO YOU SEEK ADVENTURE IN YOUR LIFE?
I try and find adventure every day! But I would say I define adventure a little differently, I think life is the adventure. And I think when you add in a hint of something new, that’s when you get really adventurous! I think I can find adventure in trying something new in my work or in finding a new walking path to take in the morning. I think it’s an adventure to try a new restaurant or café. Right now we are trying to be in a new country every month… that is a BIG adventure!
IF YOU COULD PLAN YOUR PERFECT DAY FROM MORNING TO NIGHT WHAT WOULD IT BE?
This is a hard one for me because I love changing it up so much everyday but I would say right now my perfect day starts with me waking up, saying good morning to my perfect man… but I am always up way earlier than he likes to be, so then I tip-toe out and head outside! I would go on a walk to my favorite spot, probably a beach spot and let the sun shine on me for a bit. Then I would go back and make some coffee (every morning has to start with coffee). Morning hours are when I love doing work! So I dive in to my exciting task for the day… I really, really love what I do, so this is always fun for me! After having a delicious lunch on the porch my boyfriend and I head out for a fun activity, think hiking a mountain or snorkeling with the sea turtles. And after all that fun I have worked up an appetite again so we head back to our place and make some delicious dinner. After dinner probably some time reading whatever book I’m into at the moment. Hanging out by the stars for a bit and then off to sleep!
HOW DID YOUR CREATIVE AND COMPASSIONATE TRAITS HELP SHAPE YOUR CHOSEN CAREER PATHWAY?
I would say these two personality traits are the biggest foundation for my coaching business. I changed my major 6 times in college, I just couldn’t find what it was that I loved doing and that I was good at. I took my creativity and crafted the perfect business for me, where I get to be compassionate every day, and that brings me so much joy!
WE ARE SURE IT IS ALWAYS DIFFERENT, BUT CAN YOU WALK US THROUGH A TYPICAL DAY IN YOUR LIFE?
A typical day looks a bit like my perfect day! I wake up tell the perfect man good morning and that I love him, and head outside. Right now I walk to the beach and back, that takes about an hour. I come back and put on the coffee! The boyfriend usually wakes up around now and we enjoy our coffee together, talk about what we are grateful for and what we will bring into our day (My magic morning routine = outdoors + coffee + gratitude!) – Then we like to work separately - I work from about 9-12 on creative projects, mornings are when my brain flows the best. I might have 1-2 call in the morning. Pause for lunch, sometimes I do my social media engagement while I eat. After lunch it varies, I do something fun for the day and finish up a bit of work and client calls but it varies which one comes first! Then dinner, relaxing time (a book, or sometimes a Netflix binge) and then bed!
WHAT IS ONE PIECE OF ADVICE THAT YOU LIVE BY, OR THAT YOU HAVE GIVEN TO OTHERS?
