A Piece of Hannah's Story

· · Comments

Meet Hannah!  Hannah is the brains and beauty behind the blog Brave Blonde.  She is a 29 year old full time fashion and lifestyle blogger and mother to her son Hudson!  She is currently in Yuma Arizona! Thank you Hannah for the wonderful interview - we are truly inspired by you!

WHAT ARE YOU UP TO RIGHT NOW? TELL US ABOUT YOURSELF!

My life right now is solely dedicate to my little miracle boy, Hudson Brave. I have wanted nothing more than to be a mommy ever since I was a little girl. I am fortunate enough to be able to stay at home and raise him full time. So there is lots of laundry, dishes in the sink, and toy cars on the floor that I always seem to step on…and I wouldn’t have it any other way! I have my blog on the side, which I love and I am so passionate about! I share all things style, beauty, home, and motherhood

WHAT INSPIRED YOU TO START YOUR BLOG BRAVE BLONDE

I started my blog when I was pregnant with my son, just to have something for me to look back on. From there is just kind of lead to pregnancy fashion to being a new mommy. I would get asked here and there about Hudson’s baby products, clothes, and activities I would do with him. So I thought I would share it on a blog for everyone to access. And style, especially twinning with my little guy, is something else I l have always loved. A lot of women struggle with self confidence, so if I can inspire a look and help them pick something out to make themselves feel beautiful, it makes my heart happy. I love to learn and glean from other women and mothers, so I wanted to be able to share some things I do to help inspire others.

CAN YOU WALK US THROUGH THE BEHIND THE SCENES OF BEING A FASHION AND LIFESTYLE BLOGGER?

Blogging for me right now is part time and perfect for where I am at in life as a mother and wife. I make lots of lists and plan ahead! Like way ahead. I am very type A and tend to get stressed easily, so having my calendar and lists are essential.
There was a season, especially when I launched “Brave Blonde”, where things where getting busy for my blog. Which I am so honored and thankful for! I had to take a step back and make sure my priorities were in order and my number one job as a mother wasn’t lacking. Thats were I learned to set aside one to two days out of the week to go out and shoot my content. Most of the time Hudson goes with me, but right now we are in the middle of the summer, which for us is triple digit heat, so I leave him with my mom. I then usually spend nap time, which I call the “golden hour (s)”, to dedicate to my blog, reply to emails, and spend on social media. Of course, there is balance and sometimes I have to send a quick email or answer a question while he is eating lunch or playing. I just try and make sure I am not glued to my phone when he needs my attention. And sometimes life is life and I have to stay up a little later at night to get things done.

WE READ AS TO WHY YOUR BLOG IS CALLED BRAVE BLONDE BUT CAN YOU TELL US THE MOST BRAVE THING YOU HAVE EVER DONE?

The most brave thing I have ever done, aside from not giving up during infertility, would be the launch of my blog. When you tell people your a “blogger” you kind of get a chuckle, or even an eye role. And there are times when people can be so discouraging, but I press on in spite of it. I want people, especially Hudson, to always know that they can do anything and anything is possible! But you will never know until you try. And that step is one of great bravery.

WHAT KEEPS YOU INSPIRED?  IS THERE A PERSON OR PLACE THAT KEEPS YOU GOING?

It’s so important to always be inspired! I love following other bloggers and mothers. Two of my favorites are Rachel Parcell (@rachparcell) and Sarah Tripp (@sassyredlipstick) Not only do they inspire me, but it keeps me relevant with what is going on. Also, sometimes going away to conferences or conventions are so inspiring!! It is like a breathe of fresh air. And this may be funny, but shopping! Even window shopping inspires me. It keeps me updated with the latest trends and styles.

IF YOU COULD PLAN YOUR PERFECT DAY FROM MORNING TO NIGHT WHAT WOULD IT ENTAIL?

A perfect day for me would be sleeping in (haha) with my little family and having breakfast delivered! I’m not a fan of cooking nor am I good at it. Playing all day long with my little guy, which would consist of trucks and swimming. Online shopping during nap time, maybe even a nap myself. Getting cute for a dinner date with my husband and little guy. Then ice cream in bed. Haha! If it was cool enough outside, I would say smores.

WHAT ARE YOUR TOP FOUR PERSONALITY TRAITS AND WHY

DREAMERIf I am not dreaming, I feel blah. I dream about where I want my blog to go. I dream about the home we want to build or renovate. And I dream about the amazing gentleman I want Hudson to be. From there I work on the “right now” to get there. Remember, everything is a process and everything takes time.

STRONG: For me its more of an inner or quiet strength. I have to keep my heart and mind strong, because you never know what the day holds, or what phone call you are going to get. For me, its reading my bible. I especially love "Jesus Calling”. I also love to read books. My favorite right now is “Present over Perfect”. There are times I want to freak out, but I pull on that inner strength to get me through that moment.

DETERMINED: My husband calls me the energizer bunny. I just keep going and going and going. Even when it comes to cleaning…I won’t stop till it’s done! Motherhood has calmed that a bit. My mother always taught us to “never give up”. And there is just something in me that just won’t. I remember working a job, before I had Hudson, and I loved it! But just like any job, there were so many tough moments. Times where I was done wrong and I had every reason to quite, but I knew thats where I was meant to be at that time, and I kept going.

ENCOURAGING: I feel so empowered when I am given the tiniest bit of encouragement…from anybody! It’s a powerful thing. You can either build some up or tear them down with your words. I have been on both ends and encouraging is so much better and I know how it feels to be encouraged and I want everyone to feel like that!

HOW HAVE YOUR STRONG AND DETERMINED PERSONALITY TRAITS HELPED SHAPE WHO YOU ARE TODAY?

They have completely shaped who I am today! I think if it wasn’t for those two things I would be a very unhappy, anger, and depressed individual. It also shapes how I raise Hudson. What is on the inside will always come out.

HOW DO YOU FIND THE TIME TO BE A FULL TIME MOM, BLOGGER, AND BALANCE ALL THE OTHER ASPECTS OF LIFE? DO YOU HAVE ANY TIPS OR TRICKS TO SHARE WUTH US ON HOW TO DO IT ALL?

Lots and lots of lists! I always have my calendar and lists. I put events and appointments on my calendar and then I make lists of what needs to get done that day and week. I prioritize what I can realistic get done and add those on my calendar.
Make the most of nap time. Again I make a list of what I want  to get done during nap time and it helps me stay focused. If not, I feel like I am just wondering around and then I get nothing accomplished. If your child or children don’t nap, its okay for them to have quiet time. Watching a movie, or even finding an educational game for them to do on their own. There are so many great apps out there. Screen time is okay with boundaries and limits.
Staying organized. Even when it comes to our meals, I have to have them prepped, that way I can grab everything I need at the grocery store while I am there.
I wake up early. Ugh, its hard, but if I can get up before everyone else and at least get myself ready for the day, through a load of laundry in or unload the dishwasher, then I have already gotten a head start and thats a win. Plus, it takes twice as long with a toddler to get ready.

WHAT IS ONE PIECE OF ADVICE THAT YOU LIVE BY, OR THAT YOU HAVE GIVEN TO OTHERS?

You can have it all, but you may not have it all right now. Be present in each season and make the most out of each moment your given. Be careful what you speak to and over your child or children. For what you say they will become.
